The Hoopoe holds special cultural significance as the national bird of Israel, chosen in 2008 during the country’s 60th anniversary—making this piece both decorative and meaningful.
Each sculpture is entirely handcrafted—from carving to painting—and finished with a soft wax polish. Natural variations and light distressing give every bird its own personality and artisanal character.
Designed by Anna & David on Vancouver Island, these distinctive bird sculptures are inspired by the natural beauty of the surrounding coastline, forests, and abundant birdlife. Their work blends indigenous folk art influences with clean, modern aesthetics.
Each piece is created in collaboration with skilled artisan families, using carving techniques passed down through generations—supporting traditional craftsmanship while producing refined, collectible works of art.
