Hand Carved Wooden Varied Thrush — 6.5"H

The varied thrush is one of the most striking birds of the Pacific Northwest rainforest — that vivid orange eyebrow, orange breast with dark band, and slate-blue back making it one of the most beautifully marked songbirds on the West Coast. Often heard before it's seen, its haunting single-note call is one of the defining sounds of the coastal forest. A personal favourite of ours.

Handmade Character

Aviologie's style has elements of distressing and natural variation that are part of what makes each piece unique. Their photos represent the birds accurately, but they are individually hand carved pieces with the soul of variation, not cast resin replicas.

Our Story

Jesus said "consider the birds" (Luke 12:24), so they did!
Designed on Vancouver Island by Anna & David, each bird is brought to life by the same three families of skilled artisans they have supported, and been supported by, for over 15 years.
Drawing on centuries-old village carving techniques, they blend indigenous folk art with modern design to create timeless art pieces that are simple, refined, and equally at home in settings (rustic, classic or modern), as varied as their customers.
